Three Black Friday TV Traps
- Inflated “list prices.” A big “was” price makes any sale look huge. For example, when we checked, Amazon showed the 65-inch Hisense U6 Pro selling far below its “list price.” Judge a deal by what the TV actually sold for recently (a price tracker shows you this), not by the list price.
- Special Black Friday models. Retailers often sell TVs made just for the sale, with slightly different model numbers than the versions reviewed online (see what to buy in October vs. Black Friday). Compare the exact model number before you buy. Here’s how to check a special Black Friday TV model in 5 minutes.
- Doorbusters that vanish. The cheapest TVs often have very limited stock. If a doorbuster sells out, don’t panic-buy a random brand. Check our picks again, since prices often keep moving through Cyber Monday, November 30.
What Counts as a Good Black Friday TV Price?
A real deal is a clear drop below the price the TV has actually been selling for, not just below its list price. Use a price tracker to see the usual price and the recent low. If the “deal” matches a price the TV hit last month, there’s no rush.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do Black Friday TV deals start?
Black Friday is November 27, 2026, but many stores start sales earlier in November. See our Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 guide for the key dates.
Is Black Friday really the best time to buy a TV?
For TVs, usually yes. November is when retailers tend to cut TV prices the most, and Adobe’s 2026 forecast expects TV discounts to peak on Black Friday itself (see Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday). See what to buy in October vs. Black Friday.
Should I buy the extended warranty?
Usually not. Most TVs are reliable, and many credit cards add extra warranty time. Check your card benefits first.
The Bottom Line
Choose your size and screen type now, check today’s prices on Amazon, and set alerts. On Black Friday, buy only if the price is clearly lower than what the TV has actually been selling for.
